OBJECTIVES
To teach our students to know God as their Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier.
To teach our student that the Bible is the inerrant and inspired Word of God.
To teach so that the Word of God permeates all our teaching, religious and secular.
To lead our students to understand the practice of evangelism and use their time and talents in God's service and for the welfare of their fellow men.
To help children glorify God through the development of their Godgiven skills to the fullest potential in preparation for Godly citizenship in an ever-changing world.
To teach that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one can get to Heaven except by faith in Jesus as their personal Savior.
To Teach every student that they are expected to exercise Christian behavior, wether it be on the way to or from school, on or off school grounds.
Research
Research has also supported what a difference a Christian education can make in a person's life:
-Exhibit more knowledge of the BIBLE
-Shows a greater respect for authority
-More forgiving toward others
-Much more comfortable about their faith and beliefs
-Not influenced as much by peers
-Give greater importance to personal relationships with God and others
-Use God regularly in their personal lives
-Have the knowledge on the way of salvation by Grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone

CURRICULUM
Our school's curriculum is reviewed continually and upgraded to provide teachers with the best possible tools for instruction. All subjects are taught from a Christian perspective which provides greater understanding to the student.

RELIGION
Instruction centers on Biblical teachings and use of God's Word. Instruction also includes Church History, Missions, Memorization, Liturgy Study, and Luther's Small Catechism. All students of St. James shall attend religious and Confirmation Instruction (in the 7th and 8th grade) regardless of church or home affiliation.
LANGUAGE ARTS
A complete program is taught with instruction in reading, spelling, phonics, English, and creative writing. Literature courses are given at the Jr. High level.
MATHEMATICS
A transitional program of a thorough study from basic operations to advanced concepts provides essential skills needed for success at the High School level.
SCIENCE
Instruction includes concepts in general, biological, and physical sciences from a Christian perspective. A computer lab provides students at all grade levels necessary skills for continued use at the high school level.
MUSIC
Instruction includes music theory, notation, and singing. Children's choir provide an enriched learning experience as they sing God's praises at nursing homes, school programs, and church. Band instruction is also provided.
SOCIAL STUDIES
A complete program of societal development involving Minnesota, US, and world history is taught as well as geography and government.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
A program of instruction developing strength and skills, rhythm, recreation, and safety is provided. An extra curricular sports program for grades 5-8 also provides expanded instruction and skills development.
HEALTH
A seperate course on Health provides a complete study on keeping the body healthy and developing positive decision making from a Christian perspective.
Students from up to five different school districts attend St James. Our graduates continue to enjoy a high level of success at their respective high schools as they provide leadership in academics, sports, and many other areas.
